Our Open Classes are separate from our school programs and are open to the community. These are drop-in, recreational classes—no auditions, no productions, and no long-term commitment. They are designed for students who simply want to enjoy dance, stay active, and learn new styles in a fun, welcoming environment. Open Classes allow anyone to experience the joy of dance without being part of a formal program.

Our Core Essentials program is a flexible track designed for dancers who want to build strong technique, confidence, and artistry while maintaining balance with school, sports, and other activities. This path provides a solid foundation in dance without the intensive commitment of a pre-professional schedule. It’s perfect for those who love dance and want to progress at their own pace.
✨ Academy/conservatory
The Academy/Conservatory are for students ready to take their training to the next level. These program provides advanced technical development, mentorship, and guidance for students who are pursuing dance seriously. Academy dancers will:

Take additional classes and workshops in New York City, training with industry professionals.

Build performance portfolios and receive individualized coaching.

Get support with applications and auditions for specialized high schools, college dance programs, conservatories, and even opportunities on Broadway and beyond.

How It All Started
The NB School is the official school of New Beginnings Center for the Performing Arts, LLC. Founded in 2009 by MsJay in New Rochelle, New York, with an initial class of just 15 students, the school has grown into a vital hub for dance education. Initially known as New Beginnings Performing Arts Studio, the school was built on MsJay’s vision of using the performing arts to offer life-changing experiences for adolescents and adults alike.
At the heart of the NB School is a commitment to nurturing dancers from ages 3 and up, preparing them to become not only versatile performers but also well-rounded, culturally aware individuals. The school offers a comprehensive curriculum that introduces students to a wide range of dance techniques, from classical to culturally rooted forms, allowing them to become equally proficient in both traditional and global dance styles.
The NB School addresses the complex needs of today’s dance students, providing them with the skills and knowledge to thrive in an ever-evolving dance world. By studying diverse dance cultures and techniques, students gain a broad perspective on the art of dance, while also developing a deep understanding of the cultural significance behind each movement.
