OVERVIEW
The Core Essentials program in the Junior Division at New Beginnings Center for the Performing Arts offers students ages 8–13 a flexible yet high-quality training path in dance. It is designed for young dancers who wish to focus on one discipline, explore two, or enroll in unlimited classes—without the required course load of The Academy.
Students may choose from a variety of genres, including Classical Ballet, Modern, Afro-Fusion/African, Hip Hop, Jazz, Praise, Tap, Theater Dance, Conditioning, Dunham, and Afro-Caribbean. Training is tracked according to level, ensuring each dancer is placed appropriately and challenged to progress. This diverse approach encourages versatility, creativity, and an understanding of the cultural richness behind different dance forms.
While The Academy follows a structured curriculum with mandatory core courses, Core Essentials allows dancers to customize their schedules according to personal goals, interests, and availability. This makes it ideal for students balancing dance with other activities or exploring their preferred style before committing to a more intensive program.
Students in Core Essentials receive personalized guidance from experienced faculty, developing discipline, technique, and artistry at their own pace. They also have opportunities to perform, showcasing their growth on stage in a supportive environment. The program nurtures confidence, passion, and a deep appreciation for the art of dance, laying a strong foundation for recreational enjoyment, artistic development, or future advancement into The Academy.
