Our Mission

New Beginnings Center for the Performing Arts is committed to its mission to expose adolescents and young adults to life experiences through the performing arts.

The NBCPA is founded on the belief that pro-social activities prepare students for success in the performing arts as well as in life. These activities, including dance, movement, and sound, help build self-discipline, self-control, self-esteem, and confidence, creating a positive and enjoyable learning environment. These principles empower individuals whether they pursue a professional performing arts career or not.

Our Principals

NBCPA has been widely recognized for its faculty’s commitment to the advancement of the art of dance and for the exceptional young artists who have graduated from the school. MsJay has received acknowledgment from the Chamber of Commerce for her exemplary mentorship and academic support. Additionally, she has been lauded for providing a platform for individuals seeking to cultivate the skills needed to succeed in the world of the arts

Our Story

What sets us apart

New Beginnings Center for the Performing Arts was born from a vision to create more than just a dance school — it was built to be a movement, a mission, and a home for young artists seeking expression, excellence, and empowerment. Founded in 2009 by Kyra “MsJay” Johnson — a lifelong dancer trained at prestigious institutions like Alvin Ailey, Dance Theatre of Harlem, and Joffrey — New Beginnings emerged in New Rochelle, NY, with a commitment to transforming lives through the performing arts. What started as a small community program quickly blossomed into a pillar in the local arts scene, known for its vibrant performances, rigorous training, and a deep sense of family. Students were not only taught to dance, act, and perform — they were taught to lead, to heal, and to inspire. We develop artists. We empower leaders. We create change.
