Tiny Steps

Level: Absolute Beginner (Early Childhood)

Format: Studio-based class with live and recorded musical accompaniment

Recommended for: Children aged 3–5 beginning their dance journey in Ballet, Hip Hop, and Cultural Dance


Course Description: Tiny Steps Ballet is a joyful and engaging introduction to the world of ballet for young children ages 3–5. This class fosters a love for movement while introducing fundamental ballet concepts such as posture, coordination, and rhythm in a playful and nurturing environment. Through imaginative exercises, music exploration, and creative storytelling, dancers will develop motor skills, spatial awareness, and basic classroom etiquette. Using age-appropriate activities, students will gain confidence in movement, learn to follow simple choreography, and experience the joy of self-expression through dance.


By the end of Tiny Steps Ballet, dancers will demonstrate improved balance, coordination, and focus, as well as an early appreciation for the discipline and grace of ballet. They will develop the ability to follow structured instruction, participate in group movement activities, and express themselves through creative movement. This class provides the perfect foundation for young children who may wish to continue their ballet training in future years while fostering a positive and supportive early dance experience.


Tiny Steps Hip Hop is an exciting and energetic introduction to hip hop dance for young movers ages 3–5. This class blends playful movement with foundational hip hop techniques, allowing children to develop rhythm, coordination, and confidence in a fun and engaging environment. Using upbeat music, creative exercises, and age-appropriate grooves, students will explore basic hip hop moves such as bouncing, simple footwork, and expressive gestures. Emphasis is placed on developing body awareness, musicality, and the ability to move with a sense of play and self-expression.


By the end of Tiny Steps Hip Hop, dancers will demonstrate improved coordination, a stronger connection to rhythm, and the ability to follow and perform simple hip hop sequences with enthusiasm. The class encourages both individual creativity and teamwork, helping young dancers build confidence while learning to take direction in a structured but lively setting. This class serves as a great foundation for future hip hop training while ensuring a positive and joyful first dance experience.


Tiny Steps Cultural Component introduces young dancers (ages 3–5) to the vibrant world of global dance through playful movement, music, and rhythm exploration. This class allows children to experience a variety of cultural dance traditions in an engaging and age-appropriate way, fostering creativity, curiosity, and self-expression. Using storytelling, percussion, and interactive exercises, students will develop fundamental rhythmic skills while learning simple movement patterns inspired by dances from around the world. The class encourages both individual exploration and group participation, helping young dancers build confidence, coordination, and early social skills.


By the end of Tiny Steps Cultural Component, students will have a greater awareness of rhythm, movement, and cultural diversity in dance. They will develop listening and teamwork skills while experiencing the joy of music and movement in a supportive and imaginative setting. This class lays the foundation for future dance training and nurtures an early appreciation for the richness of global dance traditions.


Course Expectations: Students should arrive ready to participate, explore movement creatively, and follow simple instructions.


Assessment Methods: Observation of engagement, participation, and progression in basic movement skills.

Attendance Requirement: Regular attendance is encouraged to support continuity and skill development.


Course Attire: Violet leotard, pink convertible tights, pink slippers (Tutu optional), NB T-shirt, black leggings, sneakers, lappa
