Theatre II

Format: Studio-based acting class with guided exercises, scene work, and improvisation

Recommended for: Dancers and performers with Theatre I experience or equivalent acting foundation


Course Description: Theatre II is an intermediate-level course that builds upon foundational acting techniques while challenging students to deepen their emotional range, character development, and performance skills. This class emphasizes the application of voice, body, and imagination in more complex scene work, monologues, and ensemble pieces. Students will explore character motivation, subtext, and relationship dynamics through scripted and improvised exercises. They will be introduced to classical and contemporary texts, gaining experience with various genres and styles including drama, comedy, and heightened language.


In addition to performance, students will refine their audition techniques, expand their understanding of stagecraft, and continue developing their actor’s toolkit with emphasis on vocal projection, physical expressiveness, and active listening. Collaborative projects will encourage creativity, critical thinking, and peer feedback, fostering an environment where students grow as both individual performers and ensemble members.


By the end of Theatre II, students will demonstrate increased confidence, discipline, and artistic depth, ready to take on more advanced roles and creative challenges in theatre and beyond. Students will demonstrate heightened ability to embody and interpret complex characters, execute scenes with emotional authenticity and physical expressiveness, and approach acting challenges with confidence and professionalism. They will be able to memorize and perform dialogue with clarity, connect meaningfully with scene partners, and adapt to different performance styles and theatrical genres.

Assessment Methods: Performance evaluations, scene presentations, and improvisation exercises.

Attendance Requirement: Mandatory attendance to ensure ensemble cohesion and progression.


Course Attire: NB T-shirt, black leggings, and sneakers

Notes: Prepares students for advanced performance training and audition-ready skills for stage and on-camera work.
