Level: All levels
Format: Technique and conditioning class
Recommended for: Dancers seeking to improve elevation, acrobatic integration, and aerial control
Course Description: Leaps, Jumps, & Turns (ACRO) is a dynamic class designed to enhance dancers’ power, agility, and technical execution by blending acrobatic dance elements with ballet and jazz foundations. This course focuses on developing explosive jumps, fluid turns, and seamless transitions, all while emphasizing proper body alignment and core strength. Dancers will work on flexibility, balance, and control to safely execute advanced movement progressions with precision and artistry. Through targeted drills and progressive conditioning exercises, students will refine their ability to generate height, maintain clean lines, and land with stability and grace.
Throughout the course, dancers will explore a variety of movement patterns, including grand jetés, calypso leaps, fouetté turns, aerial preps, and acrobatic transitions. Strength-building exercises will focus on core engagement, leg power, and arm placement to enhance control and reduce the risk of injury. Special attention will be given to proper takeoff and landing techniques, as well as breath support and fluidity in execution. In addition to solo skills, dancers will engage in across-the-floor progressions and sequences that challenge coordination, stamina, and spatial awareness.
By the end of Leaps, Jumps, & Turns (ACRO), dancers will have developed increased strength, flexibility, and technical proficiency, allowing them to execute dynamic progressions with confidence and control. Their enhanced understanding of body mechanics will enable them to move with efficiency and precision, preparing them for advanced choreography and acrobatic dance work. This class serves as an essential training ground for dancers looking to refine their aerial and turning techniques while building the strength and flexibility needed for professional-level performance.
