Credits: TBD
Format: Studio-based class with live and recorded musical accompaniment
Recommended for: Pre-professional dancers seeking mastery of advanced ballet technique
Course Description: Ballet IIB is designed for dancers with a strong foundational knowledge of ballet technique, providing the next step in their technical and artistic development. This course refines alignment, strength, and control while introducing more advanced movement vocabulary. Students will engage in progressively challenging barre exercises that emphasize precision, stability, and coordination, laying the groundwork for increased fluidity and ease in center work. A strong emphasis will be placed on refining épaulement, turnout, and dynamic use of breath, enabling dancers to move with greater expressiveness and confidence.
As the class progresses, dancers will be introduced to more complex turns, preparatory jumps, and extended adagio sequences that challenge both technical proficiency and musical interpretation. Center combinations will demand greater balance, control, and strength, encouraging dancers to develop seamless transitions and refined articulation of movement. Petite and grand allegro will be explored with an increased focus on ballon, clarity of footwork, and spatial awareness. In addition, students will begin applying corrections more independently, fostering self-discipline and a deeper understanding of their personal growth as artists.
By the end of Ballet IIB, students will exhibit heightened technical ability, improved stamina, and a more confident performance presence. They will demonstrate a deeper appreciation for musicality, movement quality, and artistic expression, preparing them for continued advancement in ballet. With a strong foundation in technique and growing versatility in their movement, dancers will be well-equipped to approach more intricate choreography and demanding performance opportunities with poise and professionalism.
