Ballet IB

Level: Beginner/Intermediate

Format: Studio-based class with live and recorded musical accompaniment

Recommended for: Dancers with basic ballet experience

Course Description: Ballet IB is a progressive continuation of Ballet IA, designed to refine foundational techniques while introducing more complex movement patterns and artistic expression. Students will deepen their understanding of classical ballet principles, with a heightened focus on turnout, coordination, and musicality. Emphasis will be placed on developing a stronger and more consistent body alignment, allowing for greater control and efficiency in movement. Through disciplined repetition and guided corrections, dancers will enhance their ability to execute fundamental steps with precision and confidence, reinforcing ballet’s combination of strength and elegance.

Class structure will build upon previous knowledge, expanding barre exercises to further develop balance, stability, and fluid transitions. Center work will become more intricate, introducing simple combination sequences that challenge students to coordinate multiple technical elements simultaneously. Dancers will refine their understanding of adagio, turns, and petit allegro, working towards increased fluidity and improved extension. As they progress, students will also explore the expressive qualities of ballet, learning how artistry and performance contribute to the storytelling aspect of the dance form.

By the end of Ballet IB, students will demonstrate greater control, flexibility, and musical responsiveness, along with a deeper appreciation for ballet’s discipline and grace. They will exhibit improved stamina, the ability to perform seamless movement transitions, and an emerging awareness of their individual artistic presence. This course prepares students for further advancement in their ballet training, equipping them with the strength, confidence, and technical skills necessary for more complex movement and performance opportunities.
