Course Description:Ballet IA provides a structured and supportive introduction to the foundational principles of classical ballet. Students will develop a strong understanding of fundamental positions of the arms and feet, learning how to align their bodies efficiently for balance and control. With a focus on precision and grace, dancers will begin to internalize ballet’s discipline, fostering a sense of poise, confidence, and artistry from the very first steps.

Through repetitive yet engaging drills, students will refine their placement and execution of movements, allowing them to build both muscle memory and fluidity. Center work will include simple adagios, basic turns, and traveling steps, helping dancers apply their barre training to more expansive movement. Additionally, an emphasis on musicality will encourage students to connect movement with rhythm, phrasing, and expression, reinforcing ballet’s intrinsic relationship with music.
By the end of Ballet IA, students will have a solid grasp of basic ballet terminology, improved posture and core strength, and an emerging ability to execute fundamental steps with clarity and grace.
