Stagecraft & Backstage Operations introduces students to the essential skills and responsibilities involved in technical theater and live performance production. Through hands-on training and classroom instruction, students will learn how backstage teams support successful productions through organization, communication, teamwork, and professionalism.

Students will explore stage terminology, backstage etiquette, production safety, prop management, costume organization, scene transitions, cue execution, and basic stage management skills. Through rehearsals and production experiences, students will gain practical knowledge of how to support performers, directors, and creative teams while maintaining an efficient and professional backstage environment.

Emphasis is placed on responsibility, attention to detail, problem-solving, communication, and collaboration. Students will develop real-world production skills by assisting with props, quick changes, scene shifts, and performance logistics.

By the end of the course, students will demonstrate confidence in backstage procedures and production responsibilities while building a strong foundation for future opportunities in stage management, technical theater, production design, and live event operations.
