Stretching & Strengthening

Format: Studio-based class combining flexibility, core conditioning, and strength exercises with guided instruction

Recommended for: Dancers ages 8+ seeking to improve flexibility, strength, endurance, and overall performance readiness


Course Description: Stretching & Strengthening is designed to enhance the dancer’s physical foundation across all styles and levels. Students engage in exercises that increase flexibility, improve core strength, and build muscular endurance while emphasizing safe alignment and injury prevention. Class activities include dynamic stretching, targeted strengthening routines, balance and posture exercises, and controlled conditioning sequences tailored to support technique in ballet, jazz, hip hop, modern, and Afro Fusion styles.


The course also focuses on body awareness, breath control, and injury prevention strategies, helping dancers understand how to maintain long-term physical health while performing demanding movement. Exercises are scalable for all levels, allowing beginners to safely build strength while challenging advanced dancers to refine their conditioning and performance stamina.


By the end of this course, students will demonstrate increased flexibility, core strength, and muscular endurance,

improved body alignment and balance, and enhanced ability to execute technically demanding movements with control and confidence. They will also develop awareness of proper conditioning techniques to support performance longevity and prevent injuries, creating a strong physical foundation for all dance styles.


Assessment Methods: Sound clarity evaluations, choreography performance, and improvisation projects.

Attendance Requirement: Required for skill retention and group precision.


Course Attire: Black Leotard or NB T-Shirt and Black Leggings

Notes: Supports rhythmic mastery across multiple dance genres.
