Attire: Comfortable movement attire and a notebook.
Kinesiology & Dance Science is an advanced course that explores the science behind human movement and its application to dance training, performance, and injury prevention. Students will examine anatomy, biomechanics, alignment, muscle engagement, joint mechanics, and conditioning principles to develop a deeper understanding of how the body moves.
Through lectures, movement analysis, and hands-on activities, dancers will learn how to improve technique, enhance strength and flexibility, and develop sustainable movement practices. Topics include injury prevention, recovery strategies, cross-training, body awareness, and conditioning methods such as Pilates, yoga, and functional training.
By the end of the course, students will understand how scientific principles support efficient and healthy movement. They will gain the tools to analyze their own technique, prevent injury, and make informed decisions that support longevity and success in their dance training and future careers.
