Attire: NB T-Shirt, Black Leggings or Black Shorts, and appropriate dance shoes.

Choreography & Improvisation is an artistic development course designed to help dancers discover their creative voice while strengthening their ability to create, interpret, and communicate through movement. Students will explore the foundations of choreography, including movement creation, composition, musicality, structure, dynamics, spatial awareness, and storytelling.

Through guided improvisation exercises, movement exploration, and choreographic projects, dancers will build confidence in making artistic choices, responding to music, and developing original movement. Emphasis is placed on individuality, collaboration, performance quality, and understanding how intention and emotion shape choreography.

Students will experience the choreographic process from concept to performance, learning how to develop themes, create movement phrases, edit choreography, and collaborate with others. Improvisational training will encourage creativity, versatility, spontaneity, and a deeper connection to personal expression.

By the end of the course, students will demonstrate the ability to create original choreography, confidently improvise, and approach movement with greater artistry and intention. This course prepares dancers to become versatile performers, emerging choreographers, and creative leaders in the performing arts.
