Auditioning & Career Preparation

Attire: Professional dance attire appropriate for the audition style (as assigned), proper dance shoes, and a notebook.

Auditioning & Career Preparation equips aspiring performers with the professional skills needed to succeed in the performing arts industry. Students will learn how to prepare for dance, theater, and commercial auditions while developing confidence, professionalism, and a strong personal brand. The course covers audition etiquette, résumé and headshot preparation, self-tape techniques, interview skills, networking, and industry expectations.

Through mock auditions, improvisation, cold reads, choreography retention, and performance coaching, students will strengthen their ability to learn quickly, adapt to different casting styles, and present themselves with confidence. Additional topics include goal setting, time management, contracts, professionalism, social media presence, and career pathways in concert dance, commercial entertainment, theater, television, film, and arts education.

By the end of the course, students will confidently navigate the audition process, present polished audition materials, and demonstrate the professionalism, resilience, and performance skills necessary to pursue opportunities in the performing arts.
